THIS MOMENT WE'RE IN

This Moment We’re In

There are moments in time and places along our journey and people in our paths which have been given as gifts to our hearts. You are such a person made for such a time and place as this.

Remember yesteryear when we weren’t yet what we wanted to be?

Better yet, remember when we weren’t even sure of who we were or what we wanted to be?

Remember when it felt like we needed to stretch beyond the cocoon we were in?

Remember when we were sure that we weren’t sure like a mosaic of small pieces needing to be fashioned together?

Remember when we thought we had control of our lives, but life has seemed to whisk us along like leaves swirling in the wind?

And here we stand looking at those young girls who have weathered the changes of many seasons.
We’ve been blessed through our years to hear the weightless laughter that draws tight our heartstrings.

Like a river that runs deep and carves its path, the lines that etch our faces have weathered disappointment and fear, wrestled uncertain futures, and found the serenity to trust.

We’ve fought back and laid bare shed tears of pain and sorrow that ran warm over bowed heads and weakened knees.

Life has blessed us with faithful friends to hold up or to lean on. Either way, we are comforted to know they are standing nearby.

We’ve lived through a generation or two of a changing culture: still believing in finding meaning in life, maintaining an attitude of gratitude, and learning to use our voices to break through a narrative of prejudice.

We have realized this life is a lovely brief eternity that death’s door will walk us through, so we will be creative and make the most of what we’ve been given.

Tonight, it’s good to be reminded that God has gifted us people along our paths, unique moments in time, and special places along our journey.

For a short four-year moment in time, we were given a special place along our journey to share our beginnings.

My hope is that at this moment you’ve found your life’s greatest success:  the path that pursues the heart of God. May his Son continue to brighten your path, light your face, and warm your heart.

With heartfelt regards for the women you are,
Cherie
