GOD IS OUR DOCK

During a walk overlooking the placid Gulf, I am reminded that God is our dock in a safe harbor.

Docks are where ships are loaded. God instills His talents and stores His purpose in our lives.

Docks are also where ships are unloaded. God wants us to unload all those things upon Him that keep us from being filled with what He desires for our lives.

Boats are repaired at docks. As we sail through life, Christ offers his mercy to repair our souls.

Docks extend into the ocean. Just like Christ, they take us into the midst of the deeper water, closer to rising waves, and to the dangerous undertow. God knows that in order to go deep we have to be willing to step into an unsettling adventure where possibly the deepest part of our experience with Him will be found because it takes us away from the deception of solid sand into unchartered waters, a journey of blind trust which lies beyond the waters we can see. Such is faith.
